This has to be one of your best shots, the skin tone is fantastic, the facial structure is amazing! The shape of the eyes is perfection, the color of the eyes has a depth which is amazing!!!!! A truly beautiful shot of a woman , it shows the inner and outer beauty which compares to very few... One must be amazed at this photo. One just has to look at the depth to see all....the idea of the pose is very unique and gets it point across , they'd pull you into the heart and soul of the person, very hard to do a classic shot. Nothing to distract away of the subject , who's beauty explodes onto the photo...

The half-face shot is a simply terrific concept. It shows us a lot and yet at the same time leaves us to imagine a lot.

Of course, the other side of the face IS just as beautiful as the one we see: but it is still IN the mind's eye. It results in something that's arousing on a romantic and a cerebral level.

Your gleaming eye is like sapphire, and your full velvety lips part slightly with a confidant sense of power over whoever is looking at you.

I would like to see more of your amazing auburn hair, but seeing your milky neck-and-shoulder bare is essential for this. So if you would do this again, maybe have your hair hang down straight. Or maybe have a different hairstyle where the hair is - just a little - more wilful so that radiates outwards in curls. This would make more visual contrast and make everything stand out even more.

Since devArt is for sharing and hearing what others have to say about your art. I love this and congrats on your DD, I wish I could fav it, but for me personally I think the neck and chin are edited too much. The Eye is where it's it, which is truly amazing.

Thanks so much for your kind commentary & I respect your opinion.  Although in all fairness this is the original neck & chin, I know since it is my own, haha.  I have a dimple even in my chin you can faintly see.  If it does not appeal to you to each their own & I take no offence, but just wished to clarify this aspect of the piece.

okay it just looked the you had softened the skin a lot. :) I guess since it's titled soft and sharp it was meant to be that way?

You're welcome.  Sort of as though the mouth were smiling but the eye serious - it could mean anything: masked sadness, anger, or boredom, although it really looks too intense for that....

Congrats on the Daily!!! <3 One of the coolest designs in this piece is that it reaches into the modeling realm AND the surreal realm. While the title suggests the soft tones of the skin, it also reveals the sharpness. As a photographer, i tend to choose either or in my pieces and this piece specifically shows both in the same image. The obviousness of the edits matches the intention of the title, in my opinion. So in this sense it is an accomplished piece. Keep up the good work :D

Spot on commentary, your observation skills are impeccable.  Truly a gift of a finely attuned artistic eye.  Much appreciated .  I shall definitely keep up the work, with the collaboration & support I have been graced with nurturing my drive to produce more.  Work is probably the wrong word, I think passion is more suiting

Nice photo and make-up choice, but her skin is photoshopped in an odd way. I don't see the point of removing the pores on the rest of the face but keeping the ones around the nose. Same goes with the wrinkles. You should have kept the natural skin texrue, there's nothing wrong with some wrinkles and pores, her skin seems to be already smooth.

Thanks, I will keep this in mind.  Yes, the skin wasn't bad on this piece although it was meant to be the way, hence the title.  Call it artistic merit, there will be more of a different nature (if not already) in the future of a different style perhaps more to your suiting.  Thanks for the comment! :)

I have to say, I wish you hadn't removed the texture of the skin. Especially with the excellent lighting you've got on the model, the high resolution of the image, and the small patches that haven't been airbrushed away (e.g. the corner of her nose and eye), it really detracts.

I think you've got a good photo but the post-processing could really be better.

I shall redo it then perhaps.  Although the name of the piece Soft & sharp is not just metaphorical, it was meant to be a contrasting composition which a high emphasis on the features & not the skin.  Although what is ideal is highly subjective, I will see what else I may be able to muster up from this piece.

In that case it would probably work best if you experimented with depth of field. Blurring out the skin in big patches and leaving a few stretches intact doesn't emphasise her features - it in fact detracts. Skin grain is natural - it doesn't take away from the softness of your subject. I find that ~CameraDude, for example, or ~Elizabeth-May, do very well with depth of field and the soft/sharp contrast.
